Quality Counts California Equity Project Report

Quality Counts California Equity Project Report

The design approach for the Quality Counts California (QCC) Equity Project Report was centered on creating a thoughtful, accessible, and visually engaging publication that reflects the report’s commitment to advancing equity in California’s early learning and care (ELC) system.

Because the report addresses complex issues surrounding quality, access, and equity, the design was developed to make the information approachable and easy to navigate for a diverse audience of early childhood professionals, policymakers, providers, advocates, and community stakeholders. A clear visual hierarchy, intentional typography, and consistent use of color and graphic elements were used to guide readers through key findings, recommendations, and supporting data.

The visual language was designed to communicate progress, inclusion, opportunity, and collaboration. Photography and visual elements were selected to authentically represent the diversity of California’s children, families, educators, and ELC providers, reinforcing the human impact behind the data and research. Infographics, charts, callouts, and highlighted statistics were incorporated to transform complex information into concise, digestible visual stories.
